The procedure of the candidate exams passing

The candidate exam is a part of the attestation of the scientific and pedagogical staff. The passing of the candidate exams is necessary for the giving of the scientific degree of the candidate of science.

The candidate exams include philosophy, foreign language, and exam in one’s field of study.

The candidate exams in the foreign language can be passed in English, German, Spanish, Italian, and French languages. If the dissertation preparation needs knowing of another foreign language, the university rector can allow passing the candidate exam in that language.

The graduate student (zdobuvach), who has the higher education in the field of study, which does not correspond with the theme of the dissertation, pass the additional candidate exam in the scientific specialty of that field of study.

The candidate exams are taken twice a year in the form of sessions. The sessions’ terms are from October, 15 till November, 15, and from May, 15 till June, 15. If the dissertation is submitted to the special council for its defense, the candidate exam can be taken in any other time.

After the passing of each candidate exam the special certificate is given to the graduate student. At the place of passing of the last candidate exam all the certificates are replaced by one certificate.

The documents for the candidate exams passing can be submitted form September, 1 till October, 1, and from March, 1 till April, 15 of the current year.

In order to help the graduate students the courses in preparing and passing the candidate exams in philosophy and foreign language are offered at the university Scientific and Advising Center from November, 15 till May, 15.
