Omel’yanchuk Ljudmila Oleksandrivna

Doctor of the pharmaceutical science, Professor, she was born March, 20, 1959 in Gorbanivka, Vinnutskuj rayon, Vinnutska oblast. In 1977 she graduated from Zhutomyr Pharmaceutical School and in 1982 from Zaporizhzhya State Medical Institute. In 1985 she graduated from the aspirantura (post-graduate course) of Zaporizhzhya State Medical Institute with specialty “Pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy” and defended her candidate dissertation “Synthesis and biological characteristics of karbomil-replaced 9-tioacridine and its ethoxy- and nitro-derivatives” at the All-USSR Scientific Research Institute of Chemistry and Technology of Medical Preparations.

From 1985 to 1989 she worked at the position of the assistance of the Division of Pharmacognosy of ZSMI. In 1989 she moved on Zaporizhzhya State University, where she obtained different positions, such as senior research officer of scientific research sector of ZSU (1989-1999) and an Associate Professor at the Division of General and Biological Chemistry (1991-1992). In 1992 at the Moscow Medical Academy named by Sechenov she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic “Synthesis, physical and chemical characteristics, and biological activity of S- and N- replaced acridine, quinoline and pyridine.”

From 1992 to 2001 she was a Chief of the ZSU's Division of Biochemistry and Immunology with the Course of Chemistry. In 1994-1997 she was a dean of the Faculty of Biology and in 1997-2000 she was an Associate Rector of the studying process of the ZSU. At the moment she is a dean of the Faculty of Biology and a Chief of the Division of Chemistry at the faculty. In 1995 she was honored an academic status of the Professor of the Division of Biochemistry and Immunology with the Course of Chemistry. She was also honored with the medal "An Outstanding Teacher of Ukraine" for her great teaching achievements.

L.O. Omel'yanchuk directed the writing and defense of three candidate dissertations and one doctoral dissertation. The aspirantura (post-graduate course) in the specialty "Bio-organic chemistry" was opened, where five scholars are studying at the moment.

She has published 210 scientific articles, is an chief editor of the scientific journal "Herald of ZHU" (biological section), and a member of the editorial of the scientific journal "Issues of Bio-indication". Started from 2005 she is an academician of the Academy of Social Technologies and Local Self-governing (Russia). In 2006 she got an Thank-you Letter from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for her great personal contribution into the education development, preparation of the high-quality professionals and selfless work during many years.
