Department of teaching of the second foreign language

The department was founded in 1992.
 
The department of teaching of the second foreign language prepares specialists in such directions as «Philology» and following specialties: «English language and literature», «German language and literature», «French language  and literature», «Spanish language and literature», with such qualification as «Teacher of the second foreign language», and specialty «Translation» with qualification «Translator of the second foreign language». Students of all specialties get the Specialist or Master's degrees.

2. Third foreign language (French, Spanish, Italian)
3. Theory of the second foreign language (English, German, French, Spanish)
4. Practice of translation from the second foreign language (English, German, French, Spanish)
5. Methodology of teaching of the foreign language.
6. Pedagogical practice of students 4 and 5 years of study (specialist)
7. Kursovaya papers from the methodology of teaching of the foreign language.

18 teachers work at the department, among whom are 5 candidates of sciences.

•      Linguistics: associate professor Ivanenko S.V., within the framework of the field research of the candidate's thesis brought to defending
•     Structural semantic and pragmatic features of linguistic units: senior teacher Gerasimenko O.V., teacher Bogdanova T.O.
•     Cognitional linguistics: teacher Mamedova A.I.
•     Method of teaching of foreign literature: teacher Kanibolotska O.A.
•     Logistical and stylistic methods in artistic texts: senior teacher Chaplinska T.A., teacher Fefelov O.P.

Teachers, who are graduate students at the momet: Aksyutina O.V., Drach A.S., Lisenko M.V., Stulina M.V., Pan'kovskiy Ia.S. The young teachers Gacenko O.V., Gleza A.M., Gusarenko Iu.A., Mikhaleva O.S. are engaged in the scientific research.
For period of the department existence more than 10 teachers defended their candidate's dissertations and work in other subdivision of our university and other educational establishments.
A department actively works in the field of recruiting the young perspective teachers from the body of the current students and increasing the professional level if the department staff members. Efforts of the department teachers are concentrated on the constant improving teaching of the second foreign language, particularly on the questions of modernizing of the content of the educational materials in the way of updating the current textbooks with modern social and cultural materials; implementing the innovative technologies of studying, which are being realized by publishing new textbooks (including electronic books) and supplemental materials in the languages taught on the department.
Knowledge of two foreign languages is extraordinarily important, attitude of the students toward studying of the second foreign language is motivated since the Faculty of Foreign Languages alumni work in the educational sphere, scientific establishments, tourist excursion centers, state and business corporations. And as the experience shows, many of them use the second foreign language in their work. The high level of student knowledge of the second foreign language is always confirmed by their high grades, which they get on the final examinations.
