The Faculty of Sociology and Administration

If you wish to actualize yourself, we invite you to sociology and administration Faculty of the Zaporizhzhya National University. Because just here you can learn how to investigate social, political, economic processes and manage them effectively. You'll master the art of government, means of social, people and self control, and also will be able to use the acquired knowledge in private life, public and professional work.

The realization of these kinds of activity is provided with high level of professionalism of the graduate which requires the unity of world outlook, scientific, psychological and pedagogical preparation.

Scientific preparation includes theoretical knowledge and practical abilities from fundamental, general scientific and advanced disciplines.

Therefore it is not surprising that the winners of all-Ukrainian student's Olympiads and grant-aided students of the President of Ukraine, of the parliament of Ukraine, of the regional administration and the City Council are studying in our Faculty. We have something to be proud of!

The history of our Faculty

The history of our Faculty begins in 1995 when on the basis of sociology, political science and administration department of historical Faculty (then of the Zaporizhzhya state university) was opened a new specialty called «Social work» (the bachelor’s and the master’s degree). Since 1998 begins the preparation of specialists in the second speciality - "Sociology"(the bachelor’s and the master’s degree). Specialty “Political science” was found in 2003 (the bachelor’s and the master’s degree).

In 2001 on the basis of three departments - sociology, political science and the administration, was opened the Faculty of Sociology and Administration led by the first dean - the Doctor of Philosophy, professor Beh Volodymyr Pavlovych. From 2004 the dean of the Faculty is Lepsky Maksym Anatolijovych.

In all three specialities the Faculty got the right and accomplishes the preparation of masters of social work (since 2005), sociology (with 2006), political science (since 2008) and public services (since 2008).

Preparation directions

The Faculty provides students receiving of theoretical knowledge and practical skills on following disciplines:

• Philosophy;
• Sociology;
• Political science;
• The management theory;
• Economy;
• Jurisprudence;
• Psychology;
• An information technology;
• A business foreign language.

Specialties

The Faculty of Sociology and Administration prepares specialists in such specialities and specializations:

Specialty «Social work»

Qualifying level of preparation: Bachelor, Specialist and Master.

Specializations: management of social processes, management of staff.

Receiving of speciality «Social work» allows working in following directions and on such posts:

• Chief /worker of a welfare service;
• Chief /worker of the centre of employment and a pension fund;
• The manager of social sphere, the manager of the personnel.

Specialty "Sociology"

Qualifying level of preparation: Bachelor, Specialist and Master.

Specializations: sociology of management, sociology of politics, sociology of advertising and public relations.

The specialty "Sociology" allows working in following directions and on such posts:

• Chief/worker of structural divisions state and local government;
• Chief/worker of sociological and marketing service;
• The expert on political questions and mass-media.

Specialty "Political science"

Qualifying level of preparation: Bachelor, Specialist and Master.

Specializations: political and the government management, political management and advertising.

The specialty "Political science" allows working in following directions and on such posts:

• The higher officials of the political organizations;
• The assistant to the People's Deputy, the politician;
• Chief/worker of departments of advertising and public relations;
• An analyst of mass-media.

Specialty "Public service"

Qualifying level of preparation: Master.

Specializations: the state and regional managements.

The specialty "Public service" allows working in following directions and on such posts:

• The head of department, section, service of regional state administrations and ministries;
• The expert of the central state executive authority and the device of regional state administration;
• The assistant, the adviser, the adviser in state bodies and local government. Teachers’ staff

The high level of educational and methodical work provides teachers, among which 9 doctors and 23 candidates of philosophical, sociological, political and historical sciences.
