Recently in Kyiv it was held the XIII International Scientific Seminar “Ukrainian paths of St. Petersburg”, which was attended by Valentyna Kravchenko, associate professor of the Department of Ukrainian literature and Lesya Korol, the postgraduate student of the same department (supervisor is Professor Vitaliy Shevchenko).

The 6th Youth Forum of the Scholarship Program “Zavtra.UA” the Victor Pinchuk Foundation was held on May 25-27 in Kiev. This year it was entitled “From idea to Action”. Traditionally over 300 winners of the annual national contest attended the Forum. They were selected by an expert committee from more than 1900 candidates from all over Ukraine. Among the program “Zavtra.UA” winners there are 6 students of ZNU.

On May 23 Zaporizhzhya National University held an enlarged meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council. The deans of faculties, heads of departments and heads of the structural subdivisions were invited to this meeting. Among the other issues the participants listened to the report of the Vice-Rector on scientific work, Professor Victor Gryschak, that was dedicated to the participation of the Rector and the Vice-Rectors of our University in academic events organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine № 145/97 from February 14, 1997 in our state for the past 16 years the third Saturday of May is celebrated as the Day of Science. Great attention is paid to this festival at Zaporizhzhya National University, because this is an occasion not only to summarize scientific work over the last year but also to mark those teachers and staff of our university who have made the greatest efforts to the establishment and development of scientific schools, conveying experience to the young scientists.
