European experts approved updated ZNU study programs in Journalism

ZNU Journalism Faculty received a positive peer-review report from the DESTIN project panel, who peer-reviewed the updated BA and MA Journalism study programs in March. The peer-review visit was a planned step of realization of three-year Erasmus+ KA2 project DESTIN – Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards, Integrity and Professionalism.

During self-isolation, rapid changes in everyday life, the learning process in schools around the world, and in Ukraine in particular, has significantly changed. Students of the Faculty of Journalism of ZNU spoke with students of graduating classes from different cities of our country. The topic of their communication was the things that the student community are concerned about the most today. This is what the eleventh grader of Zaporizhia comprehensive school I-III grades №3 Denys Shushmyntsev told.

International experts visited ZNU for peer-review within DESTIN Project of the EU Program Erasmus+

On March 10, within the framework of implementing the international project DESTIN of the European Union Erasmus + program, its experts held a two-day working visit to ZNU (ZNU, Zaporizhzhia National University). The President of European Journalism Training Association, Professor of Windesheim University (Netherlands) Nico Drok, a journalist, media expert, lecturer at the Fojo Media Institute of Linnaeus University (Sweden) Veronika Menjoun, expert on quality of education (World University Service, Austria) Marc Schwärzli, Iryna Kondratenko (Hromadske Radio, Kyiv) and Konstantin Kovalyshin (Ukrainian Students' Association, Kyiv) met with representatives of the university administration. They also met the curriculum development team at the Faculty of Journalism, its alumni, undergraduate and graduate students, got acquainted with the material and technical resources of the faculty and the university as a whole.

On February 12, the opening of the kick-off meeting of MultiED project “Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine’s Multilingual Education and European Integration” took place at Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU, Zaporizhzhia National University) in the framework of the Erasmus + KA2 programme “Development of Higher Education Potential”. Christian Klauks and Alexandra Golovko, project managers of the University of Tartu; Susan Garton and Elisabeth Wilander, professors of Aston University (Birmingham, Great Britain); Stefani Witzig and Leone Ekzarkos, professors of Heidelberg University; Hans-Werner Huneke, rector of Heidelberg University, participated in the kick-off project meeting.

Team of the Project ERASMUS+ KA2 DESTIN are trained in updating the study programs in journalism

On December 2-4, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv again hosted the training for participants of the Erasmus + KA2 DESTIN project, including three teachers ZNU Faculty of Journalism: Dean Viktor Kostiuk, Deputy Dean for International Affairs Katerina Sirinyok-Dolgaryova and Associate Professor of Journalism Iurii Kostiuk. Participants learned the basics of writing program descriptors, syllabi and methods of self-assessment of study programs in journalism.

Representatives of ZNU took the next planned step in the framework of the Erasmus + KA2 DESTIN project. The first was a study visit to the Bath Spa University (UK) in January this year. Recently, a teaching delegation consisting of associate professors of the Department of Journalism Yuri Kostiuk, Pavlo Miroshnychenko and Katerina Sirinyok-Dolgaryova went on a study visit to Linnaeus University and the Fojo Media Institute (Kalmar, Sweden).

The fifth ZNU Project is among Project-winners of EU Erasmus + Program

International project activity is one of the priorities in the development of Zaporizhzhia National University. International vector has been fully encouraged and supported by the management of the university, in particular, Rector Mykola Frolov. Gennadii Vasylchuk, Vice-rector for scientific research, and Yurii Kaganov, Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, provide general coordination and support for HEI’s scholars in the implementation of their plans. As a result, ZNU has proved once again its potential internationally: consortium of Ukrainian and international HEI partners is among project-winners of the call 2019 in the field of Development of Higher Education Potential of the European Union Program, Erasmus +, that will implement the program «Foreign Language Teacher Training Capacity Development as a Way to Ukraine's Multilingual Education and European Integration »(610427-EPP-1-2019-1-EE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP).

ZNU joined the modernization of educational programs in journalism of the project DESTIN Erasmus+

From 13 to 17 May, representatives of the Faculty of Journalism of ZNU took part in a large-scale conference of the DESTIN project of the European Union Erasmus + program. For five days at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, participants in a consortium of 20 partner universities in Ukraine and Europe (Great Britain, Austria, Ireland, Poland and Sweden) discussed the key points of the project. The dean of the Faculty of Journalism, Viktor Kostiuk, the head of the Journalism Department, Yuliia Liubchenko, and Kateryna Sirinok-Dolharova, Deputy Dean for International Affairs joined the discussion.
