‘Jesteśmy sąsiadami’ (‘We are neighbours’) was the title for this day celebration of Polish language in ZNU. It was organized and hosted by the students of Philology, under the guidance of their creative tutor Igor Lipkevych, associate professor of the Department of General and Slavic Linguistics
On the eve of Euro-2012 which will be run jointly by Ukraine and Poland students of our University decided to show their proficiency in Polish, and we must concede, they really succeeded in it. It was not only about communication, singing, reciting in Polish, but joking and anecdote telling as well.
Amusing play depicting life of Polish family of Novaky, whose daughter entered to Jagiellonian University, entertained the spectators. The family members were speaking to Ukrainian students who they study with, showing domestic quarrels, family holidays and episodes from student life. The beauty of related languages was revealed through poetic works of distinguished Polish and Ukrainian poets Maria Pawlikowska – Jasnorzewska, Adam Mickiewicz, Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Franko, translated by the students Ksenia Shpak and Alla Mikheyenko.
Romantic atmosphere was set up with popular Ukrainian and Polish folk and love songs performed by largely known ZNU singers Mykola Bilyk, Yulia Danyluk, Iryna Pronina and others. One should not forget of wonderful video- and audio support, which added to successful incarnation of stage idea.
