Educators from the Faculty of Physics (ZNU) participated in regional stage of Junior Academy of Sciences (JAS)
Panel of judges for All-Ukrainian school student research contest in the field of ‘Physics and Astronomy’ and ‘Engineering Sciences’ comprised five professors from the Faculty of Physics: associate professors Oleksiy Osypov, Olexander Yanovskyi, A. Smoliakov, Andriy Andreyev and Professor Yuri Minayev.
Fifty school students from Zaporizhzhya region took part in the research groups meeting with eighteen among them to graduate from secondary school this year. Faculty dean Anatoliy Dobrun and vice dean N. Tykhonska
shared information on admission with prospective students. Annually professors of the Department of Physics and Teaching Methods become scientific advisors for school students, members of JAS.
This year their mentees have shown great achievements. Student from Zaporizhzhya gymnasium # 6 R. Lutay was the winner with the project on “Homemade devices for demonstration experiment in solid body rotation dynamics” in the field of “Scientific and technical creativity and invention” (research advisor: Y. Minaev). D. Kotov from Vasylivka “Suzirya” gymnasium was the winner in the field of “Environmentally safe technologies and resource sustainability” with the project on “Wave energy plant to power supply signal navigation facilities”. His school mate A. Trychev(project on “Device demonstrating heat into mechanical energy transformation”) was the winner in the field of “Electronics and instrument making”. Student of Zaporizhzhya multi-discipline lyceum # 99 O. Kaplenko became winner with the project on “Liquid self-centre bearing”; in the field of “Theoretical Physics” student of Zaporizhzhya gymnasium # 28 M. Turko won with the project on “Calculating reduction of heat energy losses applying thermal screens”. Research advisor of the winners: A. Andreyev.
