The jubilee 5th Research Conference on Foreign Philology in the 21st Century which was taking place at the Faculty of Philology on April 6-7, has successfully confirmed its international status. To discuss current issues in Linguistics and Literary Studies the scholars from Kyiv, Lviv, Uzhgorod, Odesa, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zhytomyr and other Ukrainian cities have arrived in ZNU. Besides, the scientific meeting was also visited by the scholars from Belgium, Bulgaria, etc.
In his address at the plenary session acting rector of ZNU Olexander Bondar pointed out that the University had for honour to welcome leading researchers of Linguistics on its campus, also stressing relevance of the conference's topic and great role of foreign philology in the globalized world.
Faculty of Foreign Philology dean, Assoc. Prof. Galyna Moroshkina highlighted that in the five-year period since the first conference has been held its organizers have done everything possible to make it a visible event on Ukrainian scientific arena.
Also, at the plenary session their reports delivered D.Litt., Professor of the Antwerp University (Belgium) Hermann Bluhme, D.Litt., Professor Ivan Simeonov (Bulgaria, currently guest lecturer in ZNU) and researchers from ZNU as well as other leading higher education institutions of Ukraine.
Small group sessions were represented in 9 fields. The scholars represented their reports in the following research areas: Linguo-cognitive Study of Linguistic Units, Current Issues of Text Linguistics and Discourse Studies, Linguo-cultural and Ethnolinguistic Studies, Comparative Study of Linguistic World-image, Functional and Linguo-stylistic Study of Linguistic Units, Development of Germanic and Romance Languages’ Vocabulary, Linguophilosophy and Synergy of Linguistics, Current Problems of Translation and Interpretation Studies and Cross-cultural Communication, Current Problems of World Literary Process Study.
