April, 9 in the framework of the ‘International Relations Expert’ Debate Club a session was held at the Faculty of History, dedicated to current situation in the Middle East
‘International Relations Expert’ Debate Club has been operating at the faculty for some years, serving as permanent debate arena, allowing students of International Relations (Country-specific Studies) to improve their professional skills. The most pressing issues in international relations are analyzed at the meetings, whereas is
sues on the agenda raise hot debates among future experts, thoroughly keeping their eye on current events occurring in the world. To participate in the meetings, experts in international relations and qualified foreign guests who can provide an authoritative comment on the standup news are invited, as well as everyone engaged in international subject matter.
This time to discuss the issue of ‘Syria: Inner-Policy and International Crisis’ was invited Victor Nagaychuk, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, Ph.D. in History, Assoc. Prof. at the Department of Regional and Global Systems and European Integration (Diplomatic Academy under The Ministry of Internal Affairs).
Mister Nagaychuk is a renowned Ukrainian expert in Arabic Studies, who has dedicated many years of his life to studying Middle East problematic issues, having occupied the posts of Ambassador of Ukraine to Egypt (1996/1997), plenipotentiary spokesman of Ukraine to the Middle East (2001/2003) and Ambassador of Ukraine to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (2003/2006). So it was quite natural that the view of a widely-known expert was of great interest to the Club members.
Victor Nagaychuk shared his thoughts on the reasons of grass-roots movements rising in the Middle East within the last few years. In the end students could put their questions to the Ambassador on the Middle East problems in general and Syria in particular.
The expert mentioned of the high level of ZNU students' preparation, highlighting that such frame of discussing global pressing problems has success in the view of enhancing professional experience of future country profile professionals.
This was final session of ‘International Relations Expert’ Debate Club this semester and academic year with the following meeting in autumn semester.
