At the closing meeting of Russian colleagues’ visit to ZNU a tour around the University Scientific Library was given to its guests

ZNU Scientific Library director Valentyna Gerasymova has drawn special attention of the honourable guests to exposition dedicated to 80th anniversary of the University. Among its exhibits was a great number of books inherited by ZNU from Oleksandrivsk gymnasium, located at the present-day building 1 in the 19th century. The director pointed out that quite a large quantity of rare editions had been donated to ZNU, including those presented by the University’s faculty staff.

The so-called Pushkin’s Library was presented at the Philological Literature Hall, where exposition dedicated to international project was made.

Due to the ZNU Library’s participation in the project for a 3-year period (1999-2001) it has been donated over 1000 copies of editions in diverse cultural aspects. About 200 publishing houses across wide range of countries took part in the project. The guests were also shown books gifted by Great Britain, France and Japan within the framework of international programmes.

“Novyi Mir” Magazine editor Sergiy Kostyrko was impressed with E-Resources Hall, providing ZNU undergraduate and postgraduate students, professors and faculty staff with access to world-wide information and resources data-base. He was curious about information content at ZNU Scientific Library site and its search engine, in particular.

In the end ZNU guests were invited to a ceremony of launching new Hall of Antique and Rare Editions, previewed for early September this year.
