October 11-13, the International Workshop on "Discrete Mathematics and its Application in Economic and Mathematical Modeling, Information Technology" was held at ZNU. The event was attended by the scientists from 20 universities of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and the United Kingdom. They gathered in order not only to discuss the actual problems of discrete mathematics, but also to congratulate Professor of Economic Cybernetics Vitaliy Perepelitsya on his 75th anniversary.
The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. CEO NASU Cyber Center, Director of the V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of NAS of Ukraine, Mathematics Physics Ph.D., Professor, NASU Academician Ivan Sergienko was co-organizer for the event.
The participants were able to see the exhibition of thematic literature prepared by the staff of ZNU Scientific Library before the plenary session. The separate section of the exhibition was dedicated to the scientific works of Vitaliy Perepelitsya – the author of more than 300 scientific papers.
The First ZNU Vice-Rector, Docent Oleksandr Bondar congratulated Vitaliy Perepelitsya on behalf of the administration and noted that ZNU – well known educational establishment in the south of Ukraine. This fame occurred primarily because of tireless work of ZNU talented scientists, including Vitaliy Opanasovich.
As noted by the presenter of event, Head of the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Professor Nataliya Maksishko, the name of the workshop wasn't accidental: it was the same title as the title of the scientific school formed by Vitaliy Opanasovich in 1982.
Head of the Main financial administration of Zaporizhzhya Region State Administration Sergiy Medvid mentioned the 21-year collaboration with Vitaliy Opanasovich. In 1990s, the employees of the Department of Mathematical Methods of Economics, under the chairmanship of Vitaliy Perepelitsya, created the programs for computerization of government economic and financial processes. The results of their developments are used not only in Zaporizhzhya, but also in other regions.
Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Professor Alla Cherep mentioned the other important verge of jubilee’s activity - she called him a great teacher. Vitaliy Opanasovich has prepared 35 PhDs and 4 professors for years of scientific work.
The representatives of the Faculty of Mathematics (the Department of Economic Cybernetics was formed on its base) also congratulated the jubilee. Vice-Head of the Dean
on behald of all faculty wished him good health and future academic achievements.
On behalf of ZNTU administration and employees, Professor Vyacheslav Tolok congratulated the jubilee.
After the festive opening and plenary reports work will continue in such sections: "Discrete Optimization", "Economic and Mathematical Modeling", "Modern Problems of Optimization and Uncertainty in Decision Making", "Combinatorial Configuration", "Information Systems".
Also the bust-tour around the city was organized for seminar's participants.
