Presentation of the Voluntary Sector "Student Heart" Took Place at ZNU Faculty of Sociology and Administrating
October 25, the presentation of the work of the voluntary sector «Student Heart» took place at the Faculty of Sociology and Administrating.
The main goal of the event — to attract the active youth in volunteer activities. Words of gratitude for the students' work expressed Dean of the Faculty, Professor Maksim Lepskiy:
— Strong people are those who help others. I'm proud of our sector and want more young people join the work. The audience of the presentation were able to see at first hand the fruitful work of the volunteers for last year.
Participants of volentiring organization told in detail about the activities they've conducted for the children of the Zaporizhzhya boarding facilities — Rehabilitation centre-boarding school «Orientir» and Rehabilitation centre-boarding school № 3, also for the elderly people of the — Zaporizhzhya Geriatric boarding house.
Volunteers told about their personal impressions after meeting with children, with whom they watched cartoons, drew, organized theatrical performances, and of course, gave the kids toys. Not only children derive much pleasure after communicating, but also the students themselves. It was harder to hold the meeting with elderly, but the volunteers had got acquainted with the needs of this category at first and will continue to work in this direction in future. Moreover, young people have already started to provide direct assistance. Thus, they helped to collect money for Arina Priymak's drugs and hearing aid. Oleksandr German, who is being treated at Children's Hospital № 5 of Hortitsky district, also received assistance.
Chairman of the voluntary sector Maria Mokrousova briefly informed of the history of the voluntary sector in the faculty and the activities, in which she and other members of the faculty took part last year. Among them— the International Conference «Psychological support of the Volunteering» (Lviv), the round table «The Dvelopment of the Volunteer Movement for Patriotic Education of Ukrainians. Prospects of Volunteer Movement Development in Zaporizhzhya region», student conference »Sociology — Social Work — Regulation of Social Problemsraquo; and others. Curator of the volunteer movement, Associate Dean in Educational Work Anna Boiko has announced about the opening of the Volonteers' School at the faculty and invited freshmen to join the ranks of volunteers. Activities of the volunteer movement's participants «Students Heart» shows young people unindifference to other people's problems and proves that everyone can change the lives of others for the better.
