How the Journalists Were Preparing for the Future

04.12.2012 13:46 All Faculties Journalism Факультет журналістики

What will happen to the profession of a journalist in future? What skills today's journalist should get to be competitive? The traditional media in future. What will it be? ZNU students of the Faculty of Journalism were trying to find the answers on these and other questions during the roundtable "Journalist of the Future: Tomorrow has Come Today" which took place on November 27, 2012.

During the discussion future journalists compared the requirements put forward by the profession of a journalist in the '90s those to be met today. The common idea of the round table was that perhaps computer literacy is the most important thing for a modern journalist. He should be confident in the reliability of the e-mail address, be able to process the photos, use social networks, work with video, create infographic etc.
However, in order to present a picture of the future journalism we need to get rid of some myths that still exist in the information flow. Thus, the students predicted the further development of the newspaper based on the researches of experts and their own observations. In their opinion, the traditional media will face some changes, but not extinction.
