ZNU students adopted a new version of the “Regulations on the Student Self-government”

On April 23 it was held an extraordinary conference of Zaporizhzhya National University students’ asset. The purpose of meeting was the voting on the approval of a new version of the “Regulations on the Student Self-government.”

The event was attended by members of ZNU Administration: the First Vice-Rector of ZNU Oleksandr Bondar, the Vice-Rector on scientific work Viktor Gryschak, the assistant of the Rector on educational work Natalya Voronova, the chief accountant Vasyl Tymoshyk, the head of the Department of Educational Work Svitlana Kondratenko, the director TSKMR Yuliya Yanko and artistic director of TSKMR Andriy Bondarenko.
The Presidium of the conference included the Deputy Head of ZNU trade unions on the work with students Yuliya Dudnyk, the Head of ZNU student council Anton Osadchuk, the Head of SSA ZNU Kseniya Myasnyankina and the chairman of the working group on the developing a new version of the “Regulations on the Student Self-government” Ivan Shumeyko. The event was moderated by Kseniya Myasnyankina.
The students were addressed by Oleksandr Bondar and Vasyl Tymoshyk, who noted that the development of the student self-government is an important factor in the development of the University as a whole. Because the student self-government activity is aimed at improving the educational process and bring up the students’ national consciousness, increase their social activity and responsibility for assigned work.
At the beginning of the conference the Credentials Committee chairman Iryna Obukhovych announced that 171 persons had been registered for the participation in this meeting.
The conference began with a report Student Council chairman Anton Osadchuk. He reported about the work results of his team during his tenure as the head of ZNU Student Council. He reported on the Student Council financial costs, the participation of students in scientific, cultural and sporting activities as at the university as well as at the public, national and international levels.
Then chairman of the working group on the developing of a new version of the “Regulations on the Student Self-government” Ivan Shumeyko told about the innovations that Student Council plans to approve in the new version of regulations. It was described in detail the process of election of students for the leading positions in student self-government of ZNU to ensure the transparency of the Student Council activity. It was also outlined the rights and responsibilities of the headmen, the ways of Student Council cooperation with the university administration. It was created a new position the headman of the course, and a new sector of the Student Council the legal assistance for students.
Also according to the position of the new version, it was decided that one person cannot simultaneously hold the office both in Students council, and SSSA.
For the discussion there were presented the two questions: How many consecutive terms the chairman of the Faculty Student Council may hold their position and the necessity of doing the protocol on the election of the academic group headman (as the evidence of the headman authority). By the voting of the conference participants it was decided that the headmen of the faculties are elected for an indefinite term and the protocol maintenance is not obligatory and it is done at the request of ZNU Student Council. The last question has caused a lot of discussions, so it was decided to submit it for the discussion at the next meeting.
The vast majority (166 votes) approved a new version of “Regulations on the Student Self-government.”
The offer made by Andriy Bondarenko for creating the student squad, which will operate on campus for the law enforcement and public tranquility was the final point of the discussion. The participants of the conference supported this offer; the development of the project will begin in September of the next school year.
