The regular joint working meeting of the university rectorate and student government representatives of ZNU took place on May 24. These meetings have become traditional and contribute to the solution of a number of current issues on the organization of the educational process and student life.
The meeting was attended by the Rector Mykola Frolov, the Vice-Rector Oleksandr Bondar, the Vice-Rector on Administrative - Economic Work Sergiy Kushnir, assistant of the Rector, representatives of the Department of Educational Work, Student council of ZNU and the student councils of the faculties.
As always, there was a very informative talk on various spheres of the university activity. Above all, the students appealed to the leadership with the issue of the opening Masters’ degree on the specialty “Publishing and Editing.” The First Vice-Rector Oleksandr Bondar said that the preparatory work on this issue’s currently going on, but ultimately it would be decided at the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Students from different faculties, who study on the educational qualification level of “Bachelor”, are also concerned about the issue of increasing the hours for learning a foreign language. The representatives of the administration fully support the initiative of young people, but they stressed that state standards of higher education approved some requirements, according to which the learning process is planned. The Rector Mykola Frolov noted that this issue should be considered by the Scientific Council of the Faculty and can be solved by the introduction of this discipline in a variable part of the work plan, such as “Foreign Language of the professional direction.” Mykola Oleksandrovych also reminded the students that they can take the opportunity to improve their knowledge of foreign languages at specialized courses in educational centers that work on the basis of our university and they are in demand.
The students also raised the issue of the dormitories settlement peculiarities and practice for the accommodation. The assistant of the Rector Natalya Voronova emphasized that the members of the Department of educational work are now working on the organization of students’ settlement for the next academic year. It’s planned to be held in two phases: at first it will be settled by senior students, and then – by junior ones (of 4 days). The employees of ZNU will create the most favorable conditions for this, but students must be ready for occupancy in advance. In particular, they need to take care of a medical commission and have a chest X-ray results three days before the settlement. Mykola Oleksandrovych also urged the residents of dormitories to maintain the discipline and to develop a tough position regarding the troublemakers in the dormitories.
In addition there were considered the following issues, such as the optimization of the ZNU website, organization of the vacation spots in the academic building 2 and the area around it, especially the buffet for students of Economics and Law College of ZNU and others. By joint efforts these problems will also gradually solve our university leadership and the representatives of the Economic part of ZNU.
In his turn, the Rector Mykola Frolov noted the high level of organization of the SGSP, led by Kseniya Myasnyankina, the student of the Law Faculty.
