The 6th Youth Forum of the Scholarship Program “Zavtra.UA” the Victor Pinchuk Foundation was held on May 25-27 in Kiev. This year it was entitled “From idea to Action”. Traditionally over 300 winners of the annual national contest attended the Forum. They were selected by an expert committee from more than 1900 candidates from all over Ukraine. Among the program “Zavtra.UA” winners there are 6 students of ZNU.
Oleksiy Minyaylo, student of the Faculty of Economics took the fourth position in the Program ranking (supervisor is Professor Alla Skull). The third consecutive year the student of the Faculty of Foreign Philology Bogdan Kornelyuk (supervisor is Prof. Natalia Torkut) and the student of the Faculty of Philology Yuliya Grin (supervisor is Professor Irina Pavlenko) became the Program sizars. The student of the Faculty of Journalism Julia Stec (supervisor is assistant Inna Staschuk) and representatives of the Faculty of Foreign Philology Mariya Silchuk (supervisor is Associate Professor Kateryna Ruzhin) and Daria Levchenko (supervisor is Daria Lazarenko) also won.
For three days of the Forum work the students of the program “Zavtra.UA” could try out the mechanisms for creating the startups, check the viability of their own ideas and bring them to the stage of the business model and prototype. Serhiy Arbuzov, the First Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine and Michio Kaku, the renowned theoretical physicist, futurologist were the honorary guests of the Forum. There were the known businessmen, community leaders and founders of successful startups among the invited mentors who helped teams within three days of the Forum. They were Dmytro Sholomko, the Director of Google in Ukraine; Inna Pidluska, the Deputy Director of ICF “Renaissance”; Ken liver, the partner of “EastLabs”; Volodymyr Degtyaryov, General Director of “News Front PR Agency”; Roman Khmil, Operations Director of “Ciclum” and others.
During the three days of the Forum the mentors consulted the participants gave them some mini lectures and shared with them their experience and their secrets to success.
The sizars of this year were awarded on May 27. During the ceremony the Program founder Victor Pinchuk said: “The idea is almost everything. The unrealized idea is almost nothing. It is very important to understand. The spacecraft cannot fly into the space only on the idea. The idea of a computer cannot be put on the table and be used. In today's world it should take a few moments from the conception to its implementation. And you have everything for that.”
Recall that for the year the winner of the competition will receive a scholarship amounting to 940 USD. The next competitive selection of “Zavtra.UA” will start this fall.
