Conference “Steppe Ukraine History of XVIII-XX century” took place at ZNU

Today ZNU has been held the Ukrainian scientific conference “Steppe Ukraine History of XVIII-XX century “, dedicated to the memory of the founder of this historiographic research direction professor Anatoliy Boyko. The event was organized by Zaporizhzhya National University, J. Nowicki Zaporizhzhya Scientific Society, M.S. Grushevsky Ukrainian Institute of Archeology and Source Studies of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and Zaporizhzhya branch of the Kovalskykh Eastern Institute of Ukrainian Studies.

The event brought together more than 80 scientists from various universities and scientific societies of Ukraine. Yuriy Kaptyuh, the Deputy Mayor on the activity of the executive authorities and Valeriy Kozyrev, the director of cultural center Khortytsya, deputy chairman of NZSS opened the grand plenary session. On behalf of Zaporizhzhya authorities Yuriy Kaptyuh welcomed the participants and wished to continue to study the history of the steppe Ukraine successfully. He also emphasized the comprehensive support of the local authorities in carrying out historiographic research.
Georgiy Shapovalov, the director of Zaporizhzhya State Regional Museum also addressed to the participants of the conference. He invited the participants to visit the museum and overlook the two new exhibition hall dedicated to the history of Zaporizhzhya region namely, which were created thanks to the cooperation with Anatoliy Boyko.
The work in this direction is currently going on. The materials are available in the specialized edition of "Museum Newsletter". Professor Volodymyr Milchev and Sergiy Bilivnenko, Ph.D. in History, told about the work that today is going on at the Department of historiography and special historical disciplines of ZNU and J. Nowicki Zaporizhzhya Scientific Society, as well as about new editions of the local lore.
During their speeches the reporters mentioned the important role of Professor Anatoliy Boyko in initiating of historical researches on the historiography of his native land. Anatoliy Vasyliovych headed the Department of sources, historiography and special historical disciplines of ZNU over the years, served as the chairman of J. Nowicki Zaporizhzhya Scientific Society and was the editor of several scientific publications, including “Steppe Ukraine Oral History”.
Leading regional companies JSC “Motor Sich” and OJSC “Zaporizhstal” also support the study of the history and spirituality of Zaporizhzhya region. Volodymyr Kotov, the Head of the Department of Public Relations of JSC “Motor Sich” has been present at today’s meeting. He welcomed the participants and stressed that their company provides support in carrying out the researches by our scientists, in particular the work of J. Nowicki Zaporizhzhya Scientific Society and Zaporizhzhya branch of the Cossacks Scientific Research Institute.
Victoria Konstantinova, Professor of Berdyansk State Pedagogical University, told about the establishment and work of the Scientific Research Institute of Historical Urban Studies, in which she had the position of director.
The section sessions and the exhibition-presentation of scientific publications of History Department of ZNU, J. Nowicki Zaporizhzhya Scientific Society, M.S. Grushevsky Ukrainian Institute of Archeology and Source Studies and Kovalskykh Eastern Institute of Ukrainian Studies would be held as the part of the conference.
