Students of ZNU ran the cross-country race which was initiated the Ukrainian Olympic Day

On first of June the sports holiday “The Olympic day” took place in the Central cultural and recreation park “Oak Grove”. This year the sporting event is devoted not only to the basis of the International Olympic Committee, but also devoted to centenary of the first Russian Olympic Games.

In total more than 3500 inhabitants took part in a sports holiday and among them – 20 students- athletes from physical training faculty of the national university.
The Director of Ukrainian National Olympic committee from Zaporizhzhya office – VolodymyrLobanov addressed to all present with welcome speech at the beginning of event. He noted that this Olympic day passes under the slogan “History – is yours future”, and also handed over awards following the results of March - April 2013 to the best athletes and trainers of Zaporizhzhya region and to school -winners of physical training.
The Olympic champion, the USSR Master of Sports and graduate of ZNU – Olga Strazheva congratulated the participants of “Olympic day”. Competitions took place on various distances - from 30 to 200 meters, depending on age groups. Students of ZNU made running on 200 meters. Students of ZNU took such places: in competitions among women the second place was taken by Maria Fenko, the third place was taken by Elyzaveta Velichko, among men the first place was taken by Oleg Nechay, second place - Victor Bozhlarovskiy, the third place - Vyatcheslav Semenenko.
All winners won memorable prizes from NOC of Ukraine and each participant of “The Olympic day” became the owner of the special certificate signed by the president the IOC – Jacques Rogge and the president of NOC – Sergey Bubka.
