October 14 at the Faculty of Social Pedagogics and Psychology of ZNU held a concert dedicated to the celebration of the city liberation from the German fascist invaders.
The festive program of activities prepared by students of specialty "Dramatic Art". Students-actors by poems and songs of military subject reminded the audience of what cost to our nation victory in that terrible war.
The honorary guest of the concert became Former Head of the Department of Pedagogics of Zaporizhzhya Pedagogical Institute (now ZNU), a veteran of World War II Volodymyr Yumatov. During the war he was a platoon commander of ninth Poltava Guards of Red Orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov Airborne Division. This division was formed in December 1942 near Moscow and was fought from Old Russia to Czechoslovakia through the arc of Kursk, Poltava, Poland and Germany.
Volodymyr Oleksandrovych spoke about the night assault of Zaporizhzhya from 13 to 14 October 1943, the events of those days (in which he was directly involved as a platoon leader), when Soviet troops inflicted a sockdolager in the fight against the German army and liberated our city from the enemy.
In memory of great soldiers who died and living, all those present commemorated with a minute of silence in recognition.
