On feminism and self-affirmation discussed roundtable participants of the ELC

November 14 Economic and Law College of ZNU held a roundtable discussion on "Feminist Discourse in Ukrainian literature". The event is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the famous Ukrainian writer and social activist Olga Kobylyanska.

In the meeting and roundtable discussions took part 1st year students of the specialty "Law" and experts from a number of senior students and teachers of ELC – Svitlana Dobroskok, Nataliya Trush, Anna Dorofeeva and others.
Theme of a roundtable discussion rather complicated, but at the same time interesting and relevant. The origin and development of the theme of feminism in Ukrainian literature is closely related to the social activities the beginning of and Ukrainian women, women writers of the nineteenth century - Olga Kobylyanska, Nataliya Kobrynska, Olena Bdzhilka, Lesya Ukrainka, and others. At the same time established by them direction of well developed in the recent literature modernism and postmodernism - women's motives presented in the works of Iryna Zhylenko, Oksana Zabuzhko, as well as prose of writers-men - Pavlo Zagrebelny and Roman Fedoriv. They created a "new" image of women that conveys its deepest essence.
Investigations in the Ukrainian feminist literature today dealing scientists of ZNU – Nataliya Sanakoeva, Victoriya Pogrebna and Yuliya Kushneryuk. The vision and their own views on femininity in the life and works of Ukrainian writers also expressed students: Anna Muzychuk in the report "A new type of women in the prose of Olga Kobylyanska"; Egor Ulchenko and Igor Fusin in collaboration discussed the topic "Pioneer of female movement - Nataliya Kobrynska"; Ulyana Ivonchyk identified "Feminism in the works of Lesya Ukrainka", Yuliya Zvereva – "Femininity of Iryna Zhylenko's poetry"; Khrystyna Mkhitaryan devoted her speech to research "Gender aspects of Roman Fedoriv's work" and others.
Almost diametrically opposite opinions during the discussion pointed out those present on the reasons of creation and existence of feminist motifs in Ukrainian literature. However, the almost unanimous conclusion was about the birth of this phenomenon according to living conditions and demands of time under which they lived and acted famous Ukrainian writers.
