In ZNU held a press conference with the participation of students - "gold" winners of XII World Wushu Championship
November 15 in Zaporizhzhya National University held a press conference with athletes of our university - "gold" winners of XII World Championship in Wushu (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), graduates of Zaporizhzhya Regional Wushu Federation, masters of sports of Ukraine - Myroslava Mala, Tetyana Kondrateva and Ganna Derbenova. Also, event was attended by Honored coach of Ukraine, President of Zaporizhzhya Regional Federation in Wushu Evgen Shulga, President of Zaporizhzhya City Federation in Wushu Maksym Moroz, First Vice-Rector of ZNU Olexander Bondar and Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, professor Mykola Malikov.
This year's World Championship in Wushu gathered 71 teams from 68 countries - nearly thousands of the most powerful members of the martial arts. Our country was represented by 10 athletes from Kyiv, Lviv and Zaporizhzhya regions. One Gold Award to Ukraine brought our girls performance in "duylyan" (dramatized fight).Myroslava Mala, Tetyana Kondrateva and Ganna Derbenova scored 9, 61 points, at 0,01 points ahead of the race favorites - teams of Hong Kong and Macau.
Athletes successfully combine high performance in sport and education in our university: Tetyana Kondrateva a third year student of Economics and Law College of ZNU (specialty "Physical Education") and plans to continue studying at the Faculty of physical Education of our university, where studying third year student Ganna Derbenova. And Myroslava Mala combining a career with training on 5th year of full-time studying at the Faculty of Economics and with receiving of master's degree in "Pedagogics of High School" (part-time).
At the beginning of the press conference to First Vice-Rector of ZNU Olexander Bondar turned with the question how significant he considers the award, won by our sportswomen, because Wushu - not an Olympic sport. Oleksandr Grygorovych said that he felt proud of our students who were able to win "gold" at the world championship level, and thanked them for the win. He said that the leadership of our university will continue to do everything possible to sportsmen of ZNU had the opportunity to realize their potential and adequately represent the University in competition at all levels. Also, Oleksandr Grygorovych ensured that athletes can always rely on the support of Rectorate.
The President of Zaporizhzhya City Federation in Wushu Maksym Moroz, remembering the events of the world championship, said that the competition in the "duylyan" were the last, the fifth day. This is why athletes had spread themselves on one hundred percent, because victory in such cases depends not only on physical fitness, but also on the strength of the spirit of all members of teams. He also spoke about the cooperation with Chinese universities in the training of athletes and expressed the hope that in the nearest future will be the signing of an agreement between Zaporizhzhya National University and Chinese universities, through which their students can study at our university, and their Zaporizhzhya peers - study abroad.
To the question about the prospects for international cooperation of the Faculty of Physical Education, its Dean Mykola Malikov replied that the faculty, as the whole university in general, opened for collaboration with foreign universities. Already, ZNU today has many international partners. Mykola Vasylovych also welcomed athletes with victory and wished in order Wushu soon became an Olympic sport.
Journalists of the local media asked winners on the most memorable championship moments. They all agreed that a particularly important moment for them was when they stood on the podium and hear the anthem of Ukraine. As noted Ganna Derbenova, the next day it was her birthday - she was twenty years old, but happiness of victory was much brighter than on this holiday.

Indeed, not even resting after the championship, they are actively involved in preparing theatrical show associated with the history of martial arts and its emergence as a sport that representatives of Zaporizhzhya Regional Wushu Federation going to present in our city December 13.
