November 28 representatives of social and political organization "League of Young Political Scientists" held a roundtable discussion on the topic "Social Democracy: theory and practice".
Moderator of the event was graduate student of the Department of Political Science Anton Kovalenko, and independent expert - Ph.D. in Sociology, associate professor of Sociology Eduard Gugnin. Their report provided a student of 2nd year of the specialty "Political Science" Yuliya Yurgina and 1st year student in the same field of study Nadiya Kvitka.
The main issues raised for discussion are: a modern social democracy: genesis ideology and its contemporary interpretation, transformation of social democracy in the context of globalization, the social democratic practice in the modern world.
The event started with a presentation that revealed the basic concept of social democracy and its practical components, acquainted with the most famous representatives of this ideology and the bases on which it operates. This presentation presented the topic areas and discuss issues.
In considering the first question, it was determined that a social democracy, on which it is based and which defines its main criteria.
Then discussed the processes of globalization that have affected social democracy and its development. During the discussion of the third question was determined, which is a state of social democracy today, what are the basic tenets of the concept of social democracy survived and whether it is relevant in today's conditions.
The event program has been quite eventful, productive and interesting. During the discussion, students are free to express their views on a particular issue.
