Famous ratings Webometrics Ranking of World's Universities is published twice a year and covers nearly 12,000 universities and schools in all countries. The new web-ranking of World Universities, published in February 2014, compiled on the basis of systematic data collected by developers in January of this year. According to its developers, this time Zaporizhzhya National University ranked 28th among 313 Ukrainian universities participating in the rating.
Should be noted that in this version the distribution of seats among universities, counted several aspects references to these universities in the world wide web. So developers of Webometrics take into account the number of pages indexed by search engines the site of the university, external reference to it, quoting the resource and the number of files uploaded to the site. At the same time they do not count attendance websites and their design, that is, this version is estimated only meaningful and informative web-site component of the particular educational institution.
The general increase in popularity of Ukrainian universities in the web space already evidenced by the fact that the new web-world university ranking published in February, has been already included 313 higher education institutions of Ukraine, while the last time (August 2013) mentioned 307 universities.
Despite the growing number of participants, Zaporizhzhya National University, finishing 28 step, significantly improved its ranking position since the last time it was on the 44th. In addition, the ZNU - the only among the Zaporozhian higher education institutions, which came to this rating.
Also noteworthy is the fact that significantly improved position in the global ranking of ZNU: According to the developers, it has risen from 7293 to 4695 place.
Webometrics Organizers indicate the aim is to stimulate ranking web presence of both the schools and their students, to promote the globalization of the educational process. If the web activity facilities are less than academic success, they are encouraged to review their policies and focus on increasing the volume and quality of electronic publications.
About the notable successes of the University in this field is evidenced by the fact that the XXIV International Exhibition "Education and Career - Students' Day 2013" (November 14-16, Kyiv), Zaporizhzhya National University won the Grand Prix in the category "Best Design of the official site of higher education institution ".
