Students publishers of Economics and Law College of ZNU touched the rare publications

3 March 3rd year students of Economics and Law College of specialty "Publishing and Editing" within the decade of popularization specialty with teachers of the Department of Publishing and Editing of the Faculty of Journalism of ZNU Inna Horbenko and Halyna Mykytiv visited Zaporizhzhya Regional Universal Scientific Library named after A.M. Gorky, whose history began 110 years ago.

A librarian told the students about the history of this institution, and showed them rare books, that there are about two hundred years. In particular, Head of the department of social and cultural activities and public relations Maryna Sotnyk showed prospective publishers binder of regional newspapers, including "Bolshevik Zaporozhye" 1941, large format, "British ally", which was published in Russian, "Krasnoye Zaporozhye" 1944-1945, the newspaper "Enykayt" which was printed in Hebrew, 1944, "For a durable peace, democracy for people!" in 1953, and magazines for children and youth "Murzilka" (1952), "Zateynyk" (1948) and others.
During the excursion Head of the department of rare and valuable editions of the library Tetyana Chernykh gave students the opportunity to explore the rare publications in books and talked about the history of their creation. The oldest book turned out to XVIII century. Especially students interested in the information that was added to the paper fiber flax to pages of the book were harder and longer preserved. It is interesting also to know that in the 30s of the XIX century became fashionable books in fabric cover.
Among other valuable and rare books, publishers have seen the future and facsimile reprint editions, one of which is dated 1717 year. Most of all, the students impressed the book Goethe's "Faust," which weighs 18 kilograms and book's size of five kopiyka. Despite its small size, text, poetry can be read with the naked eye.
Finally, students had the opportunity to see the exhibition of art paintings of Zaporizhzhya pupils, located on the fourth floor of the library, which is dedicated to 200 anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko.
The campaign in Zaporizhzhya Regional Universal Scientific Library named after A.M. Gorky was a kind of practical employment of excursions into the past. Such measures are needed for future publishers, in order they became experienced and erudite experts.
