April 24 at the Faculty of Mathematics of Zaporizhzhya National University launched an annual traditional V Ukrainian, XII Regional Conference of young scientists "Actual problems in mathematics and computer science".
Today the plenary session was moderated by D.Sc. in Engineering, professor, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics Serhii Homeniuk. He welcomed the participants, told them about the history and the conference and wished young researchers the best experience from 
work activities and inspiration to the scientific achievements and new design solutions. Serhii Homeniuk also noted that for representatives of Mathematical Faculty for celebration there is one more reason, it turns 24 years old today.
During the plenary session of the works performed two speakers: D.Sc. in Engineering, professor, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics Serhii Homeniuk (scientific development on "Use software with the open source in the environment of OS "Linux") and Ph.D. in Engineering, associate professor, Head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis Serhii Hrebeniuk (the theme of work - 
"Numerical modeling of problems of mathematical physics by finite elements method").
Serhii Homeniuk described the features of the operating system UNIX, the history of its creation and development, advantages and disadvantages of using. Highlighted the history of the Free Software GNU and created by its representatives the GPL.
Serhii Hrebeniuk spoke about the history of the finite element method, from its inception to the present simplified algorithm of which came the peak of his popularity with the advent of software. At the present stage of technical sciences program method of calculation - one of the most accurate and 
the most effective.
After the delivery of scientific developments all comers were able to ask the speakers questions. Thus, students are asked whether licensed software today uses our university; or planning to switch to the Linux operating system in our universities, and more. What got the answer that all software in our university licensed, and switching to Linux already partially implemented.
And tomorrow, the participants will take part in the sessions, "Mathematical Modeling of Systems and Processes", "Modern Problems of Mathematics" and "Information and the Latest Computer Technology".
