May 12 in sports and recreation complex of ZNU began six traditional tournament of basketball among student sports teams dedicated to Victory Day. It was organized by representatives of the Sports Club of ZNU and Department of Physical Education.
Participated in the tournament four basketball teams: Zaporizhzhya National University, Melitopol State Pedagogical University, Sumy State University and Classic Private University. For three days - from 12 to 14 May - these teams will compete with each other for the top spot.
Support players and honoring the memory of defenders in the great hall of the SC Gaming of ZNU gathered teachers, students and all fans of basketball.
After the welcoming words sounded Anthem of Ukraine and the traditional song of the Victory Day. Masters of all four teams put flowers to the memory of the fallen stelae teachers and students of the university during the Great Patriotic War.
On the first day of competition were two team meetings: match between the CPU and the Sumy State University and between the team of ZNU and the team of Melitopol State Pedagogical University. The first game ended with the score 79:67 with victory of the team of CPU. In the second game between the teams of ZNU and Melitopol State Pedagogical University, our team for a long time runner, but in the last minutes of the game score almost equaled. However, as a result of a long and exhausting struggle ZNU team won with a score of 83:79.
Over the next two days, all four teams will play each other 4 more games and the winner will be determined.
