May 21 Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia in Ukraine Mrs. Arhita Daudze accompanied by the Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Kiev Andris Seyans visited Zaporizhzhya National University. During a conversation with representatives of the administration and students of our university Mrs. Daudze shared with them her vision of history and present of Latvia and Ukraine, as well as views on the possibilities of cooperation between our countries in the field of Education.

Arhita Daudze in her speech spoke about the difficult history of Latvia in the last century and how her country has evolved since the collapse of the Soviet Union on the way to EU accession and adoption of European values. She also shared with the audience her vision of the political situation, which is currently prevailing in Ukraine.
In particular, she noted that for the first time yesterday, arrived for a working visit to Zaporizhzhya and immediately drew attention to a proactive stance and patriotism of the people in the city. Ms. Daudze said that in early March, she visited the Crimea. During her visit, she had the opportunity to talk with students. In her view, the main difference between the inhabitants of Zaporizhzhya is that they know exactly what to aspire to, and willing to defend its interests.
During the meeting with representatives of the university administration, students from different Faculties and their staff Arhita Daudze described the features of education in Latvian universities, including the academic mobility of students of this country, and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation between our countries in the fields of education and science. In her view, it has all the necessary prerequisites, as both countries are members of the "Eastern Partnership", and Latvia, the first half of next year will head the European Parliament, plans to give much attention to its strategic partners, including Ukraine.
