June 3-4 in Kiev was held a roundtable on "Models of student government participation in the formulation and country policy implementation", organized by the Ukrainian Association of student government, headed by its president Yelyzaveta Shchepetilnikova.
The event was attended by representatives of the student government educational institutions of Ukraine and NGOs. Delegate from Zaporizhzhya National University acted Aia Andrukh – Deputy Head of the Students' Council of ZNU.
During the first working day Head of the Expert Department UASG Oleksandr Smyrnov introduced the basic problems of the bill "On Higher Education" 1187-2 and revisions introduced on first reading. Detailed discussion of the participants settled on 41 articles regulating student government of universities. Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Yurii Yuzyk told the participants about the grant program, funded by the Ministry of this profile.
After discussing of the bill "On Higher Education" meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sport of Ukraine Dmytro Bulatov, during which members of a roundtable discussed the state of youth policy in the field of bringing students to the youth policy of Ukraine and the ability to support youth initiatives from the Ministry. It was established bilateral dialogue: Dmytro Bulatov expressed a desire to continue to meet with representatives of the government of universities to solve urgent issues. From their part, the participants offered their own ideas to further productive dialogue between representatives of the student body with the Ministry.
Unfortunately, due to valid reasons of meeting Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Kvit was moved to the end of this month.
During the second day of the forum, representatives of the student government shared their experience in universities. Most universities reviewed problematic issues, including: the delegation of representatives of students in the Academic Council and the Conference of the staff, allocation of student government estimates, coordination with student councils on entering, contributions, transfer students, as well as check-in and check-out from a hostel.
The meeting also commented Head of the Students' Council of ZNU Olha Lebedeva, who for valid reasons could not be present at the event: "A very important issue in the development of self-understanding is the legal framework of our activities and the development of linkages between universities of Ukraine. We traditionally occupy a leading position in this work, but educational activities is one of our priorities. I agree that a lot has been done, but more lies ahead".
