Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Kvit denied the elimination of Zaporizhzhya National University of Ukrainian Language Department

June 24 at the official website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine was placed information: "In Zaporizhzhya National University established a new Department of Ukrainian Language and Slavic Linguistics", which states that "based on the Department of General and Slavic Linguistics and Ukrainian Language by the decision of the Academic Council of Zaporizhzhya National University, created a new Department of Ukrainian Language and Slavic Linguistics".

At the request of MES of Ukraine by the Rector of ZNU Mykola Frolov was prepared a letter stating that the decision to create a strong Department of Ukrainian Language and Slavic Linguistics was caused by a number of reasons, among them - a little staff of the Department of General and Slavic linguistics, where there are only 5 scientific and teaching staff. On the other hand, needed strengthening and Department of Ukrainian language, in which work 6 teachers.
Based on the decision of the Academic Council of Zaporizhzhya National University and, following article 34 of the Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education" the Rector of university Mykola Frolov signed a decree from 28.05.2014, № 269 "On elimination of the Department of General and Slavic Linguistics and Ukrainian Language Department and the creation of the Department of Ukrainian language and Slavic linguistics". All research and teaching staff of both departments liquidated written application for transfer from 01.09.2014 at the newly created Department to fill the positions in accordance with the law.
