September 12 in Zaporizhzhya held peace march - public action to support peace initiatives of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The action, which gathered about 15 thousand participants attended the regional and city administrations, leading Zaporizhzhya enterprises and institutions, NGOs and educational institutions. In particular, in it actively participated representatives of Zaporizhzhya National University - First Vice-Rector Oleksandr Bondar, Vice-Rector for Educational Research Volodymyr Volkov, Acting Vice-Rector for Science and Research Hennadii Vasylchuk, Rector’s Assistant on Educational Work Nataliya Voronova, deans, teachers, staff and students of our university.
Participants of peace march columns were accompanied by a brass band central streets. They carried flags and banners with the words "Zaporizhzhya is Ukraine" and "Ukraine - for peace" and chanted patriotic slogans. Near the building of Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration - the final destination of their route - there was a civic meeting.
Also during the meeting
the participants suggested sending an appeal to the Russian people, mothers, activists protest against Putin's aggression with all concerned citizens of the Russian Federation, so they joined together to end the fratricidal war, the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and homecoming prisoners and hostages. Upon completion of the meeting all the guests could put their signatures to this appeal. Among those who signed the letter were also many representatives of Zaporizhzhya National University.
