Zaporizhzhya National University hosted “Rock-Beehive” festival for the first time . 11 youth rock-groups from our city took part in it: «Lucky Sunday» (L.S.D), «John & Co», «Eksklusyv», «Sick Toy», «Legenda», «Salamandra», «Krapka Podachi», «Zgraya», «Obraz Zhyttya життя», «Two Pigs», «MayzhekoliR».

The festival was held within the program of ZNU’s 75th anniversary celebration. Humanitarian Education Department and Student Culture Club of ZNU were the organizers. Popular ZNU showman Pavlo Mel’nyk was the presenter of the concert.

The festival started with the greeting from ZNU Rector, Professor Sergiy Tymchenko, who admitted that he belongs to generation, brought up by foreign rock-music: the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osborn. He also mentioned popular Russian rock-groups of those years: “Ariya”, “Chornyy Kofe”. Sergiy Tymchenko promised that rock-music will get further development in our university.

Every group represented a short sketch about themselves, for the audience to have a clear idea about the performers. For example, the members of “Obraz Zhyttya” group were talking about their childish dreams about real stage when they had been playing etudes years ago. They also had been dreaming about people who would sponsor them.

Songs in Ukrainian, Russian and English sounded from the stage. Every group presented three songs. When entering the concert hall, all the listeners received ad leaflets, calendars and tear-off coupons decorated with drawn bees. They could vote four times for the groups they liked most of all. According to voting results, “Sick Toy”, “Krapka Podachi”, “Zgraya” and “Two Pigs” were recognized as the winners. Their songs will be played at “Universe” radio hot-playlists, Ivan Korsun, Head of Organization al Committee, said.

The “Rock-Beehive” festival was professionally arranged and technically well-organized, that’s why it will remain in the audience’s memory.
