Congratulations As Teacher's Training College Celebrates its 85th Anniversary!

Zaporizhzhya Teacher’s Training College, bound up with ZNU by long-standing contacts and fruitful collaboration, has celebrated its 85th anniversary recently. Sphere of education representatives’ conferenceZaporizhzhya Teacher’s Training College is 85: Progress, Achievements, and Prospects” was dedicated to the jubilee. ZNU was represented by Dean of Faculty of Post-Graduate Study, PhD (Pedagogy), Assoc. Prof. Iryna Bakalenko. She wished her colleagues every success in the field of training future pedagogues and noted that many graduates from this institution continue their education with magistracy and post-graduate study at our university.

After the end of the conference the opening of a new computer class-room as well as the presentation of a booklet and newspaperKrokwere held.

Zaporizhzhya Teacher’s Training College is a higher education  institution of I level of accreditation. It is an important intellectual and spiritual center of the Khortytsya district. The official date of foundation is December 28, 1920, when Khortytsya Pedagogical School with a three-year study was established. In 1924 it was transformed into three-year pedagogic courses and in 1925 – into Khortytsya Teacher’s Training Secondary School which was training specialists for elementary school.

Nowadays, the pedagogic staff of the college numbers 98 lecturers, who work in 13 cycle commissions: school pedagogy and psychology, pre-school disciplines, Ukrainian philology, socio-economic disciplines etc. There are three departments at the college: “Pre-School Education”, “Elementary Education” and “Pedagogy and Psychology of Secondary Education. Fine Arts”. For more than a quarter of a century Zaporizhzhya Teacher’s Training College as a basic institution consolidates 14 teacher’s training schools and colleges of Southern Ukraine.

Since December of 2003 the college is headed by PhD (Pedagogy) O.M. Mel’nyk.
