Three days the holiday of communication at the faculty of journalism lasted. It was the international scientific-practical conference «Students’ mass-media in Ukraine: modern state and prospects for development».
The conference became possible due to Catherine Sirinjoc, the 4-th-year student of the faculty of journalism. Last year she studied journalism and mass communication at university of Graceland (USA), and won the grant of Embassy of USA in Ukraine for holding the conference. Catya solved most of organizational questions: developed the subject of the sectional meetings, invited famous guests and contacted with editors of students’ newspapers all over Ukraine.
By the way, this conference was anniversary: 10 years ago preparation of journalists began in ZNU. Three years ago the faculty of journalism became a separated structure. The present conference was the second one, organized at the faculty. Last year teachers and students-journalists held all-Ukrainian conference that gathered famous journalists and media-scientists.
This conference gathered representatives of about 40 students’ editions from all Ukraine.
Volodimir Manacin, the dean of the faculty of journalism, professor, doctor of philological science, opened the plenary. Then Vira Macsimova, associate attache on questions of culture, chairman of department of press, education and culture of Embassy of USA in Ukraine, Liliy Dolgih, senior co-ordinator of the programs of Council of international scientific researches and exchanges IREX, Oleg Homenoc, adviser on the questions of printing MASS-MEDIA IREX U-me-dia, and Cyril Givotovsciy, director of project «First public studio» invited all the present, wished hot discussions, merry time, fruitful work in sections.
On the plenary meeting reported Iryna Bondarenco, associate of the Rector in public relations, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of department of journalistic creativity.
Catherine Sirinoc read a congratulatory fax from Andrey Shevchenko, chairman of committee on the questions of freedom speech, and Glib Golovchenco, the President of Association of youth press of Ukraine, brought greeting from Igor Lubchenco, chairman of the National union of journalists of Ukraine.
At the first day of conference the master-classes of media experts were planned. Work during 5 sectional meetings was very fruitful and concerned problems of student journalism in context of freedom of speech and democracy, the questions of genre and artistic-technical aspects of students’ editions, editorial and financial policy of students’ MASS-MEDIA.
All-Ukrainian exhibition of students’ editions became one of the most interesting actions of conference. About 40 student newspapers, magazines and even two TV channels («UNIVERS-TV» and academic TV channel Micolaivscogo college of press and television) took part in it.
