In Zaporizhzhya National University was held a workshop «Adult education in formation of civil society in Ukraine», which was made possible thanks to the assistance of the rector Mykola Frolov. The event in our University was coordinated by the Pro-rector for Research Hennadiy Vasyl'chuk and the head of the School of pedagogical excellence of ZNU Yulianna Matskevych.
In the opening remarks the Pro-rector for Research Hennadiy Vasyl'chuk shared experience of our University as for support of adult education. Speaker referred to the achievements of the Center of Postgraduate Education, the Intensive Language Training Center, the School of pedagogical excellence and, of course, the Postgraduate Study Department and Centre for Doctoral Training of ZNU. Compared to 2015 the growth of the government order in graduate center is 66%. Overall in 2016, to the university were accepted 98 graduate students and 10 doctoral students. Now there are 343 graduate students and 30 doctoral students. A considerable part of them are employees of our University. For the day, the postgraduate study of Zaporizhzhya National University is one of the most powerful among classical universities of the country.
First of all, this project was created in order to demonstrate the experience of the field and to adopt novelties. At the event, there was talk of the fact that not only children and teenagers had right to education, but also adult population.
The moderator of the workshop, which worked in ZNU, was the head of the Regional Information Analysis Center «Education and civil society» of the regional Institute of postgraduate education Mykola Mal'ovanyy. Among the speakers of the meeting was a ZNU representative, associate professor of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of educational activities Tetyana Holovanova, who touched upon a very important issue of gender aspects in adult education.
The forum participants argued a lot, presented many case studies, analysed social videos on the topic, explored the simulation games. An important part of discussion was: the national strategy for the development of civil society, media education for adults, the ability to professional self-development and so on.
During the meeting there was also talk of the need for significant changes of adult education, including the legal environment. Those present remembered about stresses, which were presented during the opening of the forum by the President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the President of Ukrainian association «Knowledge» Vasyl Kremin’, who emphasized that the residents of Zaporizhzhya adopted the experience and implemented good practice in the adult education sector.
