On March 4 Zaporizhzhya National University was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Ukraine Krasimir Minchev, Bulgarian politician, diplomat, member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria. He met with the Rector of ZNU, People's Deputy of Ukraine Mykola Frolov, to discuss the prospects of possible cooperation in the development of the joint Ukrainian-Bulgarian educational projects.

The Rector of ZNU Mykola Frolov presented to the Ambassador a brief overview of Zaporizhzhya National University, its history, current status. He emphasized that 12.5 thousand students study at University, as well as 92 Doctors of Science, Professors and 453 Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors work there. Moreover, as for the Department of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies, today 343 postgraduate students and 30 doctoral students study at ZNU.
Also, the participants of the meeting were able to discuss the ways of cooperation of the University with the Bulgarian Republic and to remember the current results. Thus, according to the Protocol on Cooperation and Exchanges between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria for 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018, 2018/2019 years, Lyudmyla Minkova works in Zaporizhzhya National University as an Assistant Professor. In the framework of the cooperation agreement with Zaporizhzhya regional association of Bulgarian culture from 20.10.2015 there was introduced the specialty "Bulgarian language and literature" and were held Sunday school classes on the basis of ZNU. Besides, there were signed agreements on cooperation with the Bulgarian universities (framework agreement): the Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski” and the Faculty of Economics of Varna University.
In addition, within the academic program of the European Council "Electra" continues a cooperation with the Sofia University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (10 students undertook an internship from 2012 to 2016). An important component of cooperation is the organization of practice for students of the Faculty of Physical Education, specialty "Tourism" (60 students in the second semester of 2016) in the Bulgarian hotels.
As for the future plans, in June 2017 the pedagogical practice for students of the Faculty of Philology is expected at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. It refers to 11 students and 4 teachers. Also, in the summer school of Bulgarian language in the Bishop Constantine of Preslav University of Shumen (Varna) from June 12 to July 10 of this year, 15 graduates of the facultative courses of Bulgarian language will be able to test their knowledge among native speakers.
Furthermore, the Bulgarian Ambassador and the Rector of ZNU discussed the possibility of the language laboratory opening in the University as another tool for learning Bulgarian. During the official visit of Krasimir Minchev they talked about the prospects of agreements that would provide the double degree programs. The Ambassador promised to support such initiatives and encourage their implementation.
