
Recently Zaporizhzhya National University has welcomed 30 new postgraduate students who have joined the ranks of our scientists within the framework of the first wave of the Admissions Process 2017.
For the second time our University, in accordance with the Admission Rules, carries out admission to the postgraduate study in two waves with the possibility of admission for the graduates of master's degree programs that have just received their diplomas of higher education. A solemn meeting of the postgraduate students was attended by: the Vice-Rector for Research Hennadiy Vasylchuk, the Head of the Department of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Yuriy Kahanov, the Head of the Research Department Viktoriya Menyaylo.
According to Yuriy Kahanov, a characteristic feature of this admission process was the variety of specialties that attracted applicants’ interest. So, among 12 licensed specialties the leaders were the following ones: 081 "Law", 122 "Computer science and information technology," 051 "Economics".
It is worth mentioning that a significant part of postgraduate students have already got several contributions as well as experience of participating in conferences of different levels.
According to the current law, the result of young scientists’ training should be the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD). The postgraduate students will combine both the scientific and educational components.
Yuriy Kahanov informed that the educational process will begin in March with the practical English language course, which should be the basis for successful international examination in the future in accordance with the European recommendations for language education.
During the training there will be a considerable emphasis on the issues of academic integrity and prevention of academic plagiarism, development of foreign methodology, publication in the international peer-reviewed journals, participation in grants programs and projects.
As the Vice-Rector for Research Hennadiy Vasylchuk noted, the success of the admissions process was the result of a coordinated work of the university staff, members of the subject commissions, efforts of research supervisors and joint awareness of the important role of the system of postgraduate study in the University development.
The second wave of admission to the postgraduate study will be held in August-September 2017 and will provide for the enrollment on contract terms (at the expense of individuals and legal entities) as well as at the expense of the state order.
