Recently at the Faculty of Economics of ZNU was held a meeting with the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Rector of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow (Poland) Mr. Andriy Ivashko. The event became possible thanks to a close cooperation between the Faculty of Economics and the Zaporizhzhya regional society of the Polish culture by Adam Mickiewicz in the framework of the project “European Education for Ukrainians”. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between universities, conclusion of agreements on double diploma, participation in joint international projects of both teachers and students, internships, participation in joint research projects, conferences.

The meeting with Mr. Ivashko was attended by lecturers and master’s degree students of the Faculty of Economics. Andriy Ivashko talked about the fact that an international cooperation played a very important role in the activities of the University of Science and Technology. Today the University has concluded over 400 cooperation agreements with foreign partners in Europe, South and North America, Asia. These agreements relate to diverse cooperation in the field of education and research. The University of Science and Technology had signed 20 cooperation agreements in Ukraine. Therefore, further cooperation with Zaporizhzhya National University – a famous higher education institution – according to Mr. Ivashko, is a promising activity area for AGH.
Every year in the AGH University of Science and Technology, jointly with foreign partners, approximately 200 research projects are carried out, including EU programmes, Interreg, COST, EUREKA, SAVE, ALTENER, CULTURE 2000, DESY, CERN. The University participates in many projects, which are supported by the programs: Erasmus LLP, Leonardo da Vinci, CEEPUS, TEMPUS, the Visegrad Fund, eTEN, and the European Social Fund.
An international cooperation is considered as one of the most important elements of the educational and scientific development of the higher education institution, as well as a way to support and strengthen its prestige on the international stage. Besides, AGH University of Science and Technology is a member of numerous international organizations. As an educational institution focused on a combination of theory and practice, AGH UST is aimed at the cooperation with the industry, therefore, more than 300 partnership agreements are concluded with the industrial enterprises, including large international corporations. The subject of these agreements is the cooperation in the field of science, research and education, and the goal is to make full use of partnership opportunities.
The University is notable for its international atmosphere as well as student and lecturer exchanges, to which were invited the students and teachers of our University. Mr. Ivashko stressed the possibility of joint projects in both Polish and English. A special emphasis was made on the desire of the Polish side to take part in the projects initiated by the Faculty of Economics, to share experiences, for example, through lectures of the Polish professors for students of the ZNU Faculty of Economics.
A warm and friendly atmosphere of the meeting favoured numerous questions about education, employment after obtaining a double degree, research and student life in the University of Science and Technology.
In the long view there are new meetings and conclusion of the cooperation agreement between the Zaporizhzhya National University, ZNU Faculty of Economics and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.
