In accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 06.11.2018 № 1213 "On granting access to higher education institutions and scientific institutions that are in the management of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in scientific electronic databases" Zaporizhzhia National University received access to two international scientific databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.
In the summer, selection was announced for universities and scientific institutions of the Ministry of Education and Science for the second prepayment cycle at the expense of the state budget in Scopus and Web of Science. In order to access, the institution had to meet a number of criteria. A total of 148 applications were received from institutions, of which more than 100 received high points and will be able to connect to both bases. For comparison, last year only 29 institutions got access to both Scopus and the Web of Science.
“One of our goals is to get access to the databases of the largest possible number of scholars, students, and graduate students. Therefore, firstly, this year we expanded the geography of connections even more, and secondly, we left the rule of last year: the institution that received access is obliged to provide it in the computer rooms of its libraries to everyone,” - mentioned the General Director of the Science Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science, Dmytro Cheberkus.
He also noted that Ukrainian scientists began to use Scopus and the Web of Science five times more often.
Since October 2017, for the year of using the Web of Science platform, scholars of Zaporizhzhia National University conducted 3585 user sessions and 6900 search queries in the Web of ScienceCore Collection, etc., created ResearcherID, actively using the services and tools of the platform.
A lot of effort has been made to put our university on the list of the best Ukrainian universities that will be connected to both international scientific databases at the expense of the state budget.
Administrator of access to the relevant electronic databases is the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine, access will be provided after the conclusion of the contract with ZNU.
