Representatives of Zaporizhzhia National University are now in the University of Bath Spa (Bath, UK), where from 30 January to 6 February 2019 the founding conference of the Erasmus+ project (direction KA2) "Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Developing Standards, Integrity and Professionalism DESTIN” takes place.
During the week, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism Viktor Kostiuk, deputy dean for International Cooperation, associate professor of the Department of Journalism Kateryna Sirinok-Dolharova and associate professor of the Department of German Philology and Translation of the Faculty of Foreign Philology Olena Tupakhina get acquainted with the specifics of the project and all partners of the consortium, and this is more than 50 representatives from 20 institutions and higher educational institutions of Europe and Ukraine.
Among them are four European and ten Ukrainian universities. And also the professional organizations such as the World University Service (Austria), the Journalistic Ethics Network (UK), the European Association for the Training of Journalists (the Netherlands), Public Radio (Ukraine) and the Ukrainian Students Association.
In addition, the conference participants will identify key stages in the implementation of the project’s tasks for three years (2019-2021): conducting an audit of undergraduate and master’s journalism programs at ten universities participating in the consortium, interviewing students and graduates of journalism faculties regarding the quality of educational programs, and ways of cooperation with media employers.
The active working phase at the partner universities of the DESTIN project will begin immediately after the teams return from the conference. And on May 2019, the first trainings of European colleagues and a conference on the quality of journalism education are planned in the Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
