The project of the formation of academic integrity in school was presented in Zaporizhzhia National University
Presentation of the formation of academic integrity took place in Seeding Academic Integrity in Secondary School - SAISS. he event was held with the assistance of the vice-rector for scientific work Hennadii Vasylchuk. The coordinator of the event became a master student of the Faculty of Management, an active public activist Anastasiia Dolhopolova.
At the beginning of the presentation, vice-rector Hennadii Vasylchuk congratulated the present and mentioned the importance of introducing academic integrity in secondary schools and higher education institutions.
The speaker of the event was Marta Tomakhiv and she told the audience about the main provisions of the project, its goals and objectives.
She also pointed out that this project is being implemented by “American Councils for International Education: ACTR / ACCELS” and it will contribute to the practical implementation of Article 42 of the Law of Ukraine “Education” through partnership with the US Embassy in Ukraine and with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. In addition, the project SAISS contributes to the implementation of large-scale reform of the Ukrainian secondary school, which is described in the concept of "New Ukrainian School" and the introduction of which has already begun.
The project will collaborate with teachers, students, school administrators, parents, education managers, creating a clear understanding of the basics of academic integrity and new school culture.
Students were invited to join this project, because they are more attentive to the speakers who are just a few years older than them.
The participants of the event watched the works of the winners of the II Open All-Ukrainian student’s and pupil’s competition of social video projects “Honesty begins with you”. This creative competition was organized by employees of the American Councils for International Education in the framework of the Strengthening Academic Integrity in Ukraine project (SAIUP) and Project of the formation of academic integrity in secondary schools (SAISS) with the support of the US Embassy in Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The event was attended by students and high school students as well as fifth-grade students. The best works were awarded with cash prizes, and the videos were used as illustrative material during the meetings with schoolchildren.
The next day, representatives of the project of the formation of academic integrity in secondary schools visited the comprehensive school №98, where they met with students and representatives of the teaching staff. All students of ZNU, who would like to take part in the project in the future as participants can join the team right now.
