Recently, the number of new specialties, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, has increased in ZNU. Among them is the specialty "Information, Library and Archival Affairs". Specialists in the program "Information affairs in business, politics and public administration" will be trained at the Faculty of Journalism.

The training of specialists in library and archival affairs is carried out by the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Special historical disciplines (Faculty of History). More details you can find here:


Education at the Faculty of Journalism is carried out on a full-time basis (36 people) for 4 years (240 credits) or as extramural (14 people) for 5.5 years (240 credits). In order to study under this educational program, you must have a complete secondary education and pass the EIT in the Ukrainian language and literature, the history of Ukraine and a foreign language or mathematics (for the choice of an applicant).

The educational program "Information affairs" (area of knowledge - 02 "Culture and Art", specialty - 029 "Information, library and archival affairs") provides for the training of specialists in the specialty information affairs. The result of mastering knowledge should be thorough training during educational and industrial practices, conducting practical training on the basis of university computer classes and laboratories, and training from leading domestic and foreign practitioners in the information industry. Students who decide to obtain higher education in this field will gain the ability to work with modern databases, flexible professional skills (soft skils), and the ability to improve their professional skills in accordance with the pace of development of information and communication technologies.

The skills that students will also receive during training are monitoring, analyzing, evaluating, disseminating and providing for the use of information and knowledge in any format. In addition, during their studies, they will acquire skills in analyzing streams and arrays of documents and electronic data; maintaining business communication with subjects of the information market, users, authorities and management, media. They will be taught how to use PR technologies and other types of social communications in the context of a new information technology infrastructure; as well as the use of electronic control technologies and electronic document management.

Among the possible areas of employment for graduates are information agencies, information institutions of various levels and forms of ownership, information processing departments in enterprises, in government bodies and local governments. At the same time, they have the right to hold such positions as a specialist in the field of information and information analysis; document analyst of information services, centers; handler information material; office organizer; information systems manager; information analyst (consultant). And also - referent, assistant director of the enterprise, institution, organization; assistant in public administration services; specialist of the service of scientific and technical information; chief information officer or agency; secretary of administrative bodies.
