Publication strategy and technologies for using Web of Science were presented to the scientists of ZNU
On March 22, Irina Tikhonkova, a representative of Clarivate Analytics, visited Zaporizhzhia National University. She held a seminar "Publication strategy of a scientist and institution".
Because of the tough competition, individual scientists and scientific institutions have to develop an appropriate competitive publishing strategy in order to promote their “scientific products” on the world market and present their own achievements to the scientific community. In order not to make mistake in choosing the authoritative publications and to avoid dishonest publishers, authors need to familiarize themselves with the individual points that form the rating indicators. For example, one of the leading resources that gained confidence and respect of the global scientific community is the Web of Science platform.
Yurii Kahanov, vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, presented the speakers to the seminar participants. He also pointed out the purpose of the meeting: the need to adapt the editions of ZNU to the conditions and requirements of the European scientific space, integration into the 
worldwide scientific community.
Irina Tikhonkova is the representative of the owner of the scientometric platform Web of Science in Ukraine, the company Clarivate Analytics. During the seminar she presented the possibilities of using this resource electronic base for university scientists. The issues of publication strategy, the correct choice of a professional publication, the design of scientific articles, and work with reviews were discussed in detail.
The specialist also provided a description of the publication strategy of Ukrainian higher education institutions and pointed out its shortcomings. She also demonstrated the capabilities of the Web of Science profile, familiarized with the structure, interface, and described how to work with resources. She also pointed out the tools that contribute to the improvement of the ranking position of a publication, scholar, or educational institution.
In order to improve the rating indicators of Ukrainian science, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine provides subscription to this resource for Ukrainian users (scientific institutions and educational institutions). In particular, the scientific library of ZNU has access to the Web of Science, and creates electronic offices for scientists.
Specialized webinars which are organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and specialists of Clarivate Analytics are occasionally held in order to familiarize users with the Web of Science.
