At the beginning of October the all-Ukrainian daily newspaper Day celebrates its birthday by organizing the traditional photos contest, which is being held already for 12 years. Since 2005 Zaporizhhzya National University has become one of five universities, which give the contest winners the special prizes. This year the ZNU Journalism Department Associate Dean Victor Kostyuk handed the special prize to photographer Oleg Nych for the work "Apple of Reconciliation".
Almost two thousand photos participated in the contest, but because of the limited areas of the exhibition halls the organizers could exhibit only three hundred of them.
The ZNU prize given to the winner was donated by the Journalism Department students. For the active participation at the International Photo Contest the newspaper Day 
awarded the University with Honored Thank-You Certificate and two new books from the newspaper library - «Extract +200» in two volumes.
