Zaporizhzhia National University is a higher education institution of the state ownership whose history spans almost 90 years. Back in the 1940s, it occupied one of the leading places among the pedagogical institutions of Ukraine and still remains the leader of educational services in Ukraine.

Today, Zaporizhzhia National University is a well-known and prestigious institution of higher education which continues the best educational traditions, closely linked to the glorious past of the Zaporizhzhia region and its rich history.
The structure of the university includes 12 faculties, Engineering Institute (established after Zaporizhzhia State Engineering Academy became part of the University), as well as several branches: the Faculty of Economics and Humanities in the city of Melitopol. The University comprises 4 colleges: College of Economics and Law, Trade College, Hydropower College, and Metallurgical College. Zaporizhzhia National University includes a powerful scientific library, Confucius School for the Study of Chinese, John III Sobieski Polish Language and Culture Centre, Shakespeare International Centre, Centre for Continuing Education, Foreign Languages Intensive Study Centre, Goethe-Institut and other language educational centres.
Today, more than 17,000 students attend Zaporizhzhia National University.

The university provides courses for preparation for state external independent evaluation in various subjects and for creative competitions for prospective students.
Higher qualification training is carried out in postgraduate and doctoral studies. There are 7 specialized Boards of Academics in ZNU, 6 of them award Doctor of Science degrees (in History, Law, economic, Education, Philology, and Philosophy), 1 Board awards PhD degree (in Physics and Mathematics).

Internationally, ZNU maintains partnerships with many higher education institutions outside Ukraine. To date, the number of ZNU agreements on international scientific cooperation between higher education institutions and research institutions is 77. New partners with which cooperation ZNU has established include Anhui Pedagogical University (People's Republic of China), Narva College of Tartu University, University of Pitesti ( Romania), Kahramanmaraş University (Turkey), State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Sacz (Poland). Students have the opportunity to participate in the international exchange programs ERASMUS +, MEVLANA, Fulbright Program and study at higher education institutions of France, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, USA, China. ZNU provides European educational integration for students through a double degree program under which undergraduates can simultaneously receive education and the second diploma of the University du Maine (France) and Polonia Academy (Polonia University of Czestochowa, Poland) and others.
ZNU gives the students numerous opportunities to take part in research. The Scientific Society of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Student Scientific Association provides support for student research.
Student Council and the Centre for Culture take care of student recreation and organize extracurricular activities and events.
Zaporizhzhia National University provides students with the facilities for comfortable study, accommodation and leisure. The University has 10 buildings, a modern sports complex, 6 halls of residence, a scientific library (which holds more than 1 million copies), an electronic library, press and editorial department, educational and research laboratories; pre-university training, career counselling and employability; career centre service, external engagement and project development , press and media department, zoological and ethnographic museums, press service, Internet-radio "University", local television network "Univers-TV", Internet-portal "POROGY", regional information-production unit, two health centres , two recreation centres on the coast of the Azov Sea and on the island of Khortytsa.
