Head of the Department - Doctor of Economics Professor Maksyshko NK.
Scientific direction of the department "Discrete mathematics and its application to economic-mathematical modeling and information technologies".
The department has extensive experience in conducting research aimed at both the development of basic science and the application of its results in practice.
Postgraduate and doctoral studies of the department, working in two specialties (08.00.11 - "Mathematical methods, models and information technologies in economics", 01.05.02 - "Mathematical modeling and computational methods") under the guidance of Doctor of Economics, prof. Maksishko NK, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences prof. Perepelitsa VO, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences prof. Kozin IV annually replenish highly qualified scientific personnel higher educational institutions, organizations and enterprises of the region, country, world.
New results from basic research of the department are aimed at the development of mathematical modeling and computational methods as tools for building and researching mathematical models of complex socio-economic, environmental and technical systems. This applies to such problems as the construction of new mathematical models and algorithms for solving problems in the presence of uncertainty of different types:
- evaluation of results according to many criteria;
- uncertainty of the source information (interval, fuzzy and random data);
- complexity and nonlinear nature of systems behavior.
On the basis of modern mathematical methods application mathematical models of economic problems are developed and investigated: optimal use of agricultural land, based on the use of graph theory and hypergraphs; credit decision-making processes based on fuzzy neural networks; problems of decision-making in the conditions of group (cooperative) choice, in the context of which the issues of stability of multi-agent coalitions and unmanipulated distribution mechanisms are investigated; modeling the structure of complex economic systems and processes based on the theory of fractal and prefractal graphs. New methods of pre-forecast analysis of time series based on the apparatus of fractal analysis, phase analysis and the theory of cellular automata have been developed.
According to the results of scientific research, the collective of the department annually publishes more than 40 scientific papers, makes more than 20 reports at scientific conferences of various levels, including in co-authorship with students of the faculty. Teachers of the department published 7 monographs.
The department has close parturient both domestic and international relations with leading research centers and enterprises, which are carried out, including within the concluded Agreements on creative cooperation (VM Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, etc.).
The department has a regular scientific seminar for students, graduate students and teachers, which also involves experts from various fields of economic activity. At the meetings of the seminar current scientific and applied problems are discussed. Scientific works of teachers and students of the department are marked by awards of all-Ukrainian and regional competitions of scientific works.
The results of dissertation research, which are defended by graduate students, have evidence of their practical application.
The main areas of applied research are:
- application of modern mathematical methods to the analysis and forecasting of processes occurring in various branches of modern economics, sociology, technology;
- development of recommendations for optimizing the management of economic facilities;
- development and implementation of modern information systems that ensure the constant possession of information and making informed decisions based on it.
The department has extensive research experience in the application of mathematical methods in economics: modeling of rational land use, development and justification of agricultural machinery, development of mathematical methods and software to assess the effectiveness of new technology in the field of transformer construction, development and implementation of construction planning systems, strategy development economic and social development of Zaporizhia region for 2004-2015, research of economic levers of waste management optimization, development and implementation of decision support systems in the field of banking and finance and in other sectors of the economy. Every year, these studies acquire a new quality.
Today the actual directions of scientific and practical activity of the department are the development and implementation of:
- Computer information-analytical system for accounting of households and individuals within the territory (council) (system "Households, population, elections");
- Computer information-analytical system for managing the budget finances of the region (system "Finance");
- Computer information-analytical system for land resources management of the region (system "Earth");
- Computer information-analytical system for accounting and real estate management of the region (system "Rent");
- Comprehensive automated information system for managing the educational process of (higher) educational institution: "Department" - "Dean's Office" - "Rectorate".
The Dean's Office system "Decanat" was presented at the III All-Ukrainian Exhibition "High Technologies in Education" (Odessa), where it received a Diploma of the 1st degree. The system was put into commercial operation in 13 deans' offices of ZNU and its branches (Nikopol, Melitopol, Simferopol).
