Research work


The scientific activity of the Faculty of Economics covers fundamental and applied research, testing, publication by scientific and pedagogical staff of their research results in scientific articles, monographs, project activities, scientific internships, holding international scientific and practical conferences, round tables, as well as active participation in various scientific events, particularly scientific paper competitions, as well as commercialization of the of scientific activity results. In addition, students actively participate in scientific activities of the Faculty of Economics, starting from the first year, when they are just beginning their acquaintance with the interesting and multifaceted world of science, up to graduates who are already qualified specialists and quite experienced scientists, and postgraduates, that is, applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, doctoral students who study larger and deeper economic issues, as well as young scientists who already have scientific degrees, academic titles, and do not want stop there.

2021 for the Faculty of Economics is full of traditional events, as well as scientific events launched this year, the most significant of them are the following:

  • XVI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Management of socio-economic development of regions and the state";
  • XVI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Challenges and prospects for the new economy development at the world, state and regional levels";
  • I International Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems and prospects of implementing the European experience of diversification of rural tourism in Ukraine through creativity and sustainability";
  • and X International Round Table "Integration of education, science and business", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence and the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of Economics, under the aegis of the EU Erasmus+ Programme, Jean Monnet Module, within the project framework 620720-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE "Diversification of rural tourism through sustainability and creativity: disseminating European experience in Ukraine"; as well as VII National Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference for Students and Young Scientists "Sustainable economic development on the basis of resource efficiency", etc.

Under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Alla Cherep, a group of scientists took part in the of research and development project competition "Science for safety and sustainable development of Ukraine" organized by the National Research Foundation of Ukraine. Significant attention is paid to grant work. In particular, this area of activity is implemented by the business incubator of the Faculty of Economics of Zaporizhzhia National University. The business incubator also encourages all participants to prepare new business projects for participation in various competitions, particularly the "Startup Battle", as well as to submit grant applications in order to obtain targeted funding for starting their own business and social entrepreneurship. Such work is carried out with the support of the business environment of Zaporizhzhia region, local self-government bodies and the Rector's Office.

Leading scientific schools of the Faculty of Economics:

  • Efficiency of business entities, regions and the state (scientific supervisor – Dean of the Faculty of Economics, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Alla Cherep);
  • Discrete Mathematics and its application in economic and mathematical modeling and information technologies (scientific supervisors: Head of the Department of Economic Cybernetics, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Nataliia Maksyshko, Professor at the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Professor Ihor Kozin).

The Faculty of Economics has the following scientific student problem groups:

  • Theoretical and practical problems of financial management (scientific supervisor – Dean of the Faculty of Economics, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Alla Cherep);
  • Analysis, modeling and forecasting of economic dynamics (scientific supervisor – Head of the Department of Economic Cybernetics, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Nataliia Maksyshko);
  • Metaheuristics in economic tasks (scientific supervisor – Professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Professor Ihor Kozin);
  • Research of labor economics and HR-management (scientific supervisor – Associate Professor of the Department of Personnel Management and Marketing, D.Sc. in Economics, Associate Professor Valentina Helman);
  • Theory and practice of modern marketing (scientific supervisor – Associate Professor of the Department of Personnel Management and Marketing, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Iuliia Kaliuzhna);
  • Economic Studios (scientific supervisor – Associate Professor of the Department of International Economics, Natural Resources and Economics of International Tourism, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Natalia Venherska);
  • Scientific student problem group of the Department of Accounting and Taxation (scientific supervisor – Associate Professor of the Department of Accounting and Taxation, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Yuliia Skorniakova).

Among this year’s winners of international and all-Ukrainian student competitions and olympiads are such talented students of the Faculty of Economics:

  • Viktoriia Romanova – I Degree Diploma based on the results of all-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers in specialty "Accounting and Taxation" (scientific supervisor – Head of the Department of Accounting and Taxation, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Nelia Proskurina);
  • Vladlena Sierova – I Degree Diploma based on the results of all-Ukrainian competition of student scientific projects in the field of "Economics" (scientific supervisor – Associate Professor of the Department of Personnel Management and Marketing, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Viktoriia Maltyz);
  • Valeriia Chekhov – I Degree Diploma based on the results of all-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers in specialty "Management in the Field of Economic Competition", as well as III Degree Diploma based on the results of all-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers in specialty "Economics" (scientific supervisor-Professor of the Department of Personnel Management and Marketing, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Oleksandr Cherep);
  • Anastasiia Zhuravlova – III Degree Diploma based on the results of all-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers in specialty "Banking" (scientific supervisor-Dean of the Faculty of Economics, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Alla Cherep);
  • Yuliia Rudenko – III Degree Diploma based on the results of all-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers in specialty "Financial and Economic Security Management" (scientific supervisor – Professor of the Department of Personnel Management and Marketing, D.Sc. in Economics, Professor Oleksandr Cherep);
  • Anastasiia Triasoruk – III Degree Diploma based on the results of all-Ukrainian competition of student scientific papers in specialty "Economic Cybernetics" (scientific supervisor-Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Olena Makarenko), as well as I place in the competition "It Project Management" of the International Student Olympiad on Information Technology "IT-Universe";
  • Alina Haranina – III place in the competition "Enterprise Management in the ERP system" of the International Student Olympiad on Information Technology "IT-Universe".

So, students of the Faculty of Economics, united in scientific student problem groups under the supervision of experienced scientists annually win all-Ukrainian competitions of student scientific papers, as well as all-Ukrainian olympiads. They participate in case championships, as well as other scientific events organized both at the level of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and by the initiative of stakeholders involved into scientific cooperation. This makes it possible to conclude self-supporting contracts for the implementation of scientific research commissioned by business entities. Quarantine restrictions at the Faculty of Economics stimulated the development of remote forms of research internships, participation in various webinars, and the use of broad opportunities for mass open online research courses.

Published by the Faculty of Economics, among other scientific publications, the collection of scientific papers "Financial Strategies for Innovative Development of the Economy", which is already included in the Index Copernicus, other scientometric databases, and in the future its indexing in Scopus and Web of Science. In general, scientific activity at the Faculty of economics is aimed at finding new forms of research implementation, testing and commercialization of their results, taking into account the digital transformation of the economy.
