All employees and students of the Department of English Translation Theory and Practice work productively within complex scientific theme of The Faculty of Foreign Philology at Zaporizhzhia National University "Cognitive, communicative, and linguocultural parameters of language units’ study" approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

- Translation perspectives of discourse study (Zapolskykh S.);
- Current issues of intercultural communication (Prus S.);
- Linguistic world-images studies (Fesenko I.); Topical problems of bilingualism in the USA (Yunatska A.);
- Cognitive aspects of English phraseology (Andreeva I.);
- Discursive and pragmatic potential of grammatical categories (Chuian S.);
- Discourse study and semantic analysis (Khatser G.);
- Comparative stylistics (Vorobiova M.);
- The evolution of English vocabulary (Golovko O.)
- Lingual and extralingual processes contributing to the enrichment of English IT vocabulary (Chyrvonyi O.).
Every year the department holds all-Ukrainian national conference “Foreign Philology in the 21st century” and issues specialized edition “New Philology.” Besides, every year students scientific and practical conferences on topical issues of linguistics and translation studies are held.
Six postgraduate students and one doctoral candidate, including both ZNU and other Ukrainian higher establishments’ graduates, are trained in the department.
