Department of source studies, historiography and special historical disciplines


Established in 1992. Since 2000 the department has changed its name — “Department of source studies, historiography and special historical disciplines”.

Head of a chair – associate professor Y.I.Golovko.

A lot of professors and associate professors work at the department. The department provides teaching of such disciplines: "Archivistics", "Archaeography", "Paleography and neography", "Methodology of history", "Theories and principles of archivistics", "Archival law and organization of archiving", "Special historical subjects", " Regional studies through history", "Ethnology of Ukraine", "Source studies", "Ukrainian historiography", "Scientific discipline of documentation", "Classification of archival documents", "History of public institutions", "Historical ethology of the nations of the world" and others.

One of the leading areas of scientific activity is verbal historical researches which involve organizing and conducting field studies, processing and preparation for publication of expedition materials, along with preparation of scientific publications based on the collected materials, participation in academic conferences, involvement in verbal historical researches of students and postgraduates.
