- hands-on mastering of skills to create texts diverse in their style and genre retaining the standards of contemporary Ukrainian literary language;
- building skills in transferring the knowledge gained to high school students through introduction in classes (lectures, seminars, practicums, laboratory classes ) innovative pedagogic approaches which could be applied by the graduates in schools;
- developing skills and experience in performing scholarly and linguistic research over modern conditions and history of Ukrainian language.
A wide scope of investigations into historical development of Ukrainian, irrefutable success of linguists from Zaporizhzhya National University in this direction made it possible to found in 2004 non-government South Ukraine History and Derivative Studies Center at the Department of Ukrainian Language. The Center coordinates its work with the Department of Language History at the Institute of Ukrainian language (National Academy of Sciences).
